Eggbeater kick is a special way of treading water used in sports like water polo and artistic swimming.
Instead of kicking both legs together at the same time, you move your legs one at a time in continuous, inward circles, almost like you are riding a wide bicycle or using your legs like an electric eggbeater mixer.
The following video by Waterpolo University gives a great overview of the kick.

Below are some great exercises to build strength, as this kick puts a lot of stress on your hips and inner thighs. To make your kick stronger, you want to focus on exercises that work your legs while they are wide apart.
Wide-Stance Squats (Sumo Squats): Take a very wide stance with your toes pointed outward. Squat down while keeping your knees pushed out. This builds power in your inner thighs and glutes.
Side Lunges: Stand straight, take a big step to the side, bend that knee, and push back up. This trains your legs to be strong when moving sideways, not just forward and backward.
Clamshells: Lie on your side with your knees bent, keep your feet together, then open and close your top knee (like a clamshell opening). This strengthens the side hip muscles that help your legs rotate.
Core Exercises (Planks or Leg Raises): A strong stomach keeps your body upright in the water so your legs can do their job efficiently.
Tip: Hip flexibility is just as important as strength. Regularly stretching your groin and hips (like sitting in a butterfly stretch) will make the circular motion much easier and protect your knees from injury.
